Seminar: Corporate Governance (Diplom, Master)

The seminar discusses the economic analysis of management problems. Topics deal with operational decisions, incentives, group behavior, business regulation, and collective decisions.

This seminar is open for Diploma and Master programs. You will have four tasks during this seminar: you write a paper, you present and defend the paper during a seminar session, and you will give a comment on another paper; all participants are expected to take part in all discussions.

Application deadline is October 10, 2011. Please comply to the guidelines outlined here.

Launch Session: Friday, Oct 14, 2011 (12.15-13.00)
>>The seminar will take place on Friday, Jan 13, 2012 (9:00-16:00) in G23-004.
(participation during the whole day is mandatory)

In your paper, you first of all explain the idea of the assigned topic. Do not limit your research and the exposition to the starting paper. Secondly, you run a literature research and identify at least two articles from scientific journals that are relevant for your topic. In your paper, you explain their contents and methods, and criticize them. Thirdly, some case studies from the management practice, or real-world applications of your topics would be appreciated. And all this in just 10 pages.

The paper deadline will be Monday, December 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. Submit your paper (in one PDF file; multiple files will not be accepted) and the two most relevant papers (also as PDF). Name your file according to this pattern: YOURFAMILYNAME_topic_paper.pdf. Moreover, you have to submit four hard copies (just staple them, do not use folders, bindings, clips...) to the offices or the mailbox (in Bldg. 22, part B).

Presentation files (also in PDF, keep in mind the time limit of 10 minutes for your speech, file name pattern: AUTHORSFAMILYNAME_topic_slides.pdf) and comments (one, at most two pages, also PDF: AUTHORSFAMILYNAME_commentatorsfamilyname_comment.pdf) are due January 9, at 11 a.m. (by email, no hardcopies required).

Late submissions will at both deadlines lead to coordination problems, and cannot be accepted.
