Scientific Project: FinTech & AI in Banking and Finance (M)
This scientific project explores the latest research frontiers in FinTech and AI in banking and finance:
- Students plan and conduct a scientific literature review on a self-selected topic from a range of predefined themes, such as AI-supported credit scoring, explainable AI (XAI), RegTech and SupTech in banking, cryptocurrencies, CBDCs, cybersecurity, or AI and operational resilience (this list is for illustrative purposes only and is not exhaustive).
- Students search for, find, and synthesize relevant scientific literature in a seminar paper (literature review) and present their findings.
- Students critically reflect on the work of their fellow students and provide constructive feedback (peer review).
- Active participation in discussions is required to strengthen analytical, social, and presentation skills.
The students will:
- gain a broad overview of the current state of research on FinTech and AI in banking and finance,
- develop the ability to search, locate, and synthesize scientific literature in a literature review,
- acquire skills in academic writing,
- gain competence in the appropriate use of AI tools for research,
- learn to critically reflect on the work of their fellow students,
- improve their presentation skills through the professional presentation of their results in written and oral form.
Many of the skills taught in this scientific project are transferable to other problems, such as literature review for master’s theses or scientific papers, or the presentation of term/seminar papers, or academic work.
Literature:
